PharmEasy, India’s digital healthcare platform, concluded its acquisition of Medlife on May 25, 2021, to become the country’s largest medicine delivery platform. Medlife will discontinue its services, and its users will be migrated to PharmEasy. The acquisition, which took place in January 2021, was aimed at creating a stronger, unified platform to accelerate the mission of providing quality healthcare to a larger population.

With Medlife’s current reach across more than 465 cities, it will further boost PharmEasy’s efforts to provide healthcare services in India. The merger will also ensure a focused approach towards the consumer’s needs through the PharmEasy platform. With this major consolidation in the fast-growing online pharmacy sector, PharmEasy has become the largest healthcare delivery platform in India, catering to more than two million families.

Dharmil Sheth, Co-founder, PharmEasy said, “We are thrilled about the beginning of this new chapter. This acquisition significantly strengthens our position in the healthcare industry, and further helps us in providing quality healthcare to a greater number of Indian households.”

“Moving forward, we aim to be of even better service to the people. We can’t wait to innovate together and deliver better experiences for our consumers, delivery personnel, and retail partners across the country,” he added.

Strengthens position in India’s digital healthcare market

PharmEasy is part of API Holdings, India’s largest digital healthcare platform. It owns India’s largest integrated digital healthcare platforms. The company’s platforms empower and connect over 60,000 brick-and-mortar pharmacies and 4,000 doctors in 16,000 zip codes across India.

API Holdings delivers by heavily investing in the supply chain and providing direct access and world-class digital B2B solutions to pharmacies and EMR and digital clinic platforms to doctors. The consumer platforms provide services like tech-enabled medicine delivery and providing diagnostic tests to ensure their customers get 100 percent genuine medicines and health products with the highest savings in the shortest time possible.

Medlife users transferred to the PharmEasy platform

Medlife customers need to log into the PharmEasy app using their Medlife account credentials to enable a smooth transition. Their digitized prescriptions and saved addresses dating back to a year will be available on the PharmEasy app.

PharmEasy will also be looking forward to onboarding Medlife’s retail partners and continuing their journey with the brand. Further, as a welcome gesture, all Medlife customers will enjoy additional benefits, including a flat 30 percent discount on medicines, an additional 15 percent discount on Lab Tests, and personalized savings.

Pharmeasy currently works with around 80,000 pharmacies and intends to expand that to 1,20,000 outlets across 100 cities by the end of 2021. The platforms digitize and organize supply chains to provide easy access for pharmacies to affordable and authentic products in the shortest possible time. The platforms also offer SaaS solutions for pharmacies to use in procurement combined with delivery and logistics support and credit solutions to buy over 200,000 medicines from over 3,000 pharmaceutical manufacturers.
