AppsForBharat, India’s leading faith-tech startup, has raised $20 million in Series C funding, expanding its digital puja services, enhancing AI-driven personalization, and strengthening prasad delivery across temple towns.
“With this fundraise, we are entering the next phase of growth, scaling temple partnerships, improving digital infrastructure for temples, and building AI capabilities to serve our users better,” said Prashant Sachan, founder and chief executive officer.
AppsForBharat, a Bengaluru-based faith-tech startup, continues to transform spiritual engagement by bridging the gap between tradition and technology. With $20 million freshly raised in Series C funding led by Susquehanna Asia Venture Capital, the startup aims to expand its digital infrastructure across India’s most sacred destinations, from Ayodhya to Varanasi.
This latest round brings its total funding to $50 million, reinforcing its position as a category leader. Existing backers, including Nandan Nilekani’s Fundamentum, Elevation Capital, and Peak XV Partners, reaffirmed their confidence by joining the round.
AI-Enhanced Rituals and Commerce Expansion
AppsForBharat plans to deploy the $20 million to enrich AI capabilities within its flagship app, Sri Mandir. These tools will guide users through complex pujas, personalize content, and streamline service discovery and delivery. Notably, Sri Mandir supports online puja services, lets users send chadhava, receive prasad at home, and access multilingual devotional content, making it one of the most versatile faith-tech platforms available today.
With AI-driven personalization at its core, the company aims to deepen user engagement and spiritual immersion. This includes context-aware ritual guides and predictive content tailored to each devotee’s preferences.
With consistent growth, AppsForBharat now reaches over 40 million users globally, including a significant international diaspora in the US, UK, UAE, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The startup will invest in logistics infrastructure and establish fulfillment hubs at more than 20 pilgrimage centers to support year-round prasad delivery and the sale of ritual goods.
At the Mahakumbh Mela 2025, Sri Mandir partnered with the Vedashram Trust to digitally serve over 300,000 devotees, offering seamless rituals and the delivery of sacred items. The company’s digital tools have also empowered priests and vendors, with many temples reporting that 30 percent of their revenue now stems from online puja bookings.
Team, Traction, and Future Roadmap
Founded in 2020 by Prashant Sachan, an alumnus of IIT Bombay and a seasoned entrepreneur, AppsForBharat has doubled its growth over the last six months. Its leadership includes Pulkit Pujara (ex-AirBlack) and Ayush Chamaria (ex-Matrix Partners), signaling a potent blend of tech and investment acumen.
In FY24, the company recorded a five-fold increase in revenue to INR 18.53 crore, while narrowing its losses. It also completed an ESOP buyback, rewarding 25 early employees.
As competition intensifies with players like DevDham, Vama, Utsav App, and Ghar Mandir, AppsForBharat’s strategic investments in AI, temple partnerships, and logistics provide it with a robust edge in the faith-tech market.
