Korea Startup Grand Challenge (KSGC), 2025 invites foreign entrepreneurs to build in South Korea, as the Startup Korea Visa, introduced in 2024, streamlines entry, while the Startup Korea program, Global Startup Center, and a thriving Korean startup ecosystem together power a dynamic launchpad for global innovation.
South Korea has flipped the narrative. While many nations are tightening founder visa policies, Seoul is inviting global entrepreneurs with a founder-first approach. At the heart of this change sits the Startup Korea Visa, an open-door policy that forms the backbone of KSGC 2025, the flagship accelerator redefining South Korea’s innovation landscape.
Unlike earlier models requiring patents or degrees, the visa now favors a founder’s potential. Moreover, KSGC 2025 weaves this visa into its structure, enabling qualified global founders to land in Seoul, receive grants, scale, and even gain residency.
One Visa, Many Possibilities
The Startup Korea Visa streamlines the process for global talent. It removes rigid qualifications and replaces them with an innovation-focused selection model. Founders no longer need to show university degrees or IP portfolios. Instead, South Korea assesses the strength of business models and founder vision.
KSGC 2025 seamlessly channels selected applicants into a three-phase journey: remote exploration, in-market soft-landing, and growth-stage scaling. Each phase comes with equity-free grants, mentorship, and access to Korean conglomerates. Notably, the visa allows continuous rolling applications, a major boost for flexibility.
At the center of Seoul’s founder-centric pivot stands the Global Startup Center, a full-service launchpad for foreign startups. Launched in July 2024, the hub offers free co-working space, legal consulting, visa guidance, incorporation assistance, and Korean-language support.
This space also doubles as a melting pot for innovation. To date, 50 foreign entrepreneurs from 20 countries have utilized the center to register entities, source local talent, and establish B2B partnerships.
For instance, an Indian fintech founder who joined KSGC 2025 remotely in March gained visa approval by May. By July, he’d relocated to Seoul and, with help from the Global Startup Center, established his Korean subsidiary and secured a pilot partnership with Shinhan Bank.
Supporting Infrastructure: OASIS & K-Scouters
Two lesser-known but critical programs make South Korea’s offer unique. OASIS (Overall Assistance for Startup Immigration System) rewards founders with visa points when they attend accelerator programs, demo their Minimum Viable Products (MVPs), or take Korean language classes. KSGC 2025 is already integrated into OASIS, accelerating the global talent pipeline.
In parallel, the government has deployed K-Scouter networks across countries like India and the US. These teams actively scout high-potential startups and assist them in transitioning smoothly into the Startup Korea program.
The numbers tell a compelling story. South Korea aims to attract over 1,000 foreign entrepreneurs by 2026. Already, hundreds have entered through the Startup Korea program with help from KSGC 2025, the Startup Korea Visa, and the Global Startup Center.
An MSS official summed it up best: “We’ve not only lowered the gate, we’ve rolled out the red carpet.”
Why India Should Pay Attention
India’s startup talent has long been global, but markets like the US are increasingly complex to enter. South Korea now offers a compelling alternative: English-speaking support teams, access to APAC markets, advanced infrastructure, and policy flexibility, all bundled into KSGC 2025 and powered by the Startup Korea Visa.
For Indian founders seeking a second base or new opportunity, Seoul has become more than just a tech tourist stop; it has become the next big move.
