Astrome Technologies, a Bengaluru-based deeptech startup specializing in e-band long-distance communication solutions, has raised $10 million in funding to transform the landscape of wireless connectivity technologies and terrestrial networks with its innovative GigaMesh product while expanding into satellite communication and advancing 5G and 6G connectivity worldwide.
The current funding was led by Appollo Fund, with follow-on investments from IAN Group. The recent funding positions the company to expand its terrestrial and satellite communications footprint, reshaping the global connectivity landscape.
“With this capital, we aim to revolutionize the communication landscape by offering cutting-edge ground and space communication solutions. This foray into the satcom market represents the timely realization of the vision with which this company was founded—to drive innovation and create solutions that enhance connectivity globally,” said Neha Satak, CEO and co-founder of Astrome.
Astrome Scaling Innovations in Connectivity
The funds will fuel Astrome’s efforts to enhance its wireless connectivity technologies, scale operations, and broaden product offerings. With this, the startup aims to expand its presence in terrestrial networks while making a bold entry into the satellite communication (satcom) market.
“This strategic move marks a pivotal step in realizing our vision of creating cutting-edge connectivity solutions that address global communication challenges,” said Neha Satak. Astrome had previously raised $3.4 million in a bridge round in September 2021, a precursor to this significant funding boost.
The Game-Changing GigaMesh Technology
Astrome’s proprietary GigaMesh product is a cornerstone of its innovative approach. Designed to integrate with optical fiber systems. GigaMesh supports 5G and 6G connectivity, featuring auto-link alignment and point-to-multipoint functionality. This technology enables faster deployment, reduces costs, and boosts network performance, addressing limitations associated with mechanically aligned antennas in current E-band systems.
Astrome’s contributions extend beyond urban innovations. By partnering with the Indian government, the company has delivered broadband services to remote villages, enhancing rural connectivity. Its cutting-edge technologies are trusted by esteemed clients, including the Indian Army, Navy, and BSNL.
With the new funding, Astrome plans to increase production capacity and introduce GigaMesh to global markets. Through collaborations with leading OEMs, the startup aims to transform digital infrastructure across land, sea, and air, enabling robust global connectivity solutions.
Eyeing Global Impact
Astrome’s revenue trajectory reflects its growth, with earnings of INR 8.29 crore in FY2024, up from INR 2.71 crore in the prior fiscal year. Concurrently, the company reduced its losses to INR 1.73 crore from INR 4.93 crore.
Looking forward, Astrome’s strategic ventures in e-band communication, wireless connectivity, Satcom, and 5G/6G technologies are poised to profoundly impact global digital infrastructure.
