OmSpace Rocket, a spacetech startup based in Ahmedabad, has raised $3 million in pre-seed funding to develop Infinity One, a reusable launch vehicle designed to revolutionize low Earth orbit satellite missions and bolster India’s growing spacetech sector.
The Space Tech startup has captured $3 million in early-stage capital from a consortium of undisclosed family offices and angel investors. This funding round signals growing investor confidence in India’s emerging spacetech ecosystem.
The funds will help OmSpace Rocket finalize the prototype and commence test launches of Infinity One, its modular, reusable launch system. The vehicle is designed to carry a 350 kg payload up to 800 km in low Earth orbit. With an emphasis on cost-efficiency and reusability, Infinity One will offer dependable launch options to global satellite operators.
Incubated in Innovation, Expanding Beyond Borders
Founded in 2020 by Ravindra Raj Binod Mistri, Maulik Mota, and Stutika Padamshali, the startup was incubated at CrAdLE, the Centre for Advancing & Launching Enterprises at EDII. It also benefited from Amazon Web Services’ global spacetech accelerator, earning a $ 100,000 innovation grant as part of the initiative.
Now expanding globally, OmSpace Rocket has established a UAE-based branch, OSRE FZC, and is preparing for its first commercial launch in January 2028. This international expansion underscores the startup’s ambition to become a leading spacetech exporter from India.
OmSpace Rocket claims Infinity One will cut launch costs for small and nano satellite operators while offering the benefits of reusability. The company also aims to build a robust ground support and manufacturing infrastructure while ramping up R&D efforts.
“We aim to democratize space access from India and make it globally scalable,” said co-founder Ravindra Mistri. “This funding will enable us to expand our expert team, improve engineering workflows, and accelerate our journey towards a commercial launch.”
Surge in Spacetech Funding Despite Dip in 2023
OmSpace Rocket’s funding success comes amid a broader surge of interest in India’s spacetech startups. Earlier this year, SatLeo secured $3.3 million from Merak Ventures, while Astrogate attracted $1.3 million from Piper Serica. In another sign of momentum, Sisir Radar raised $1.5 million in seed funding from Shastra VC.
Meanwhile, India’s southern state of Andhra Pradesh has approved a new spacetech policy offering grants and seed capital to startups like OmSpace Rocket. The policy seeks to attract over INR 25,000 crore in both domestic and international investment.
Projections from industry analysts suggest India’s spacetech sector could grow into a $77 billion market by 2030, making now an ideal time for bold ventures like OmSpace Rocket to stake their claim in the global launch services economy.
