Abee Research Labs Pvt Ltd, which runs Vision AI-based platform SwitchOn, has raised Series A funding of $4.2 million led by a Singapore-based fund.

Anuj Bihani and Laxmi Narayan of Chennai Angels and previous funders Pi Ventures and Axilor Ventures participated in the round. Kris Gopalakrishnan and SD Shibulal, two of the founders of Infosys, formed Axilor Ventures, an early-stage seed fund and business accelerator.

The Bengaluru-based business stated that it plans to , and make important hiring in sales and technology.

In a seed funding round led by Pi Ventures, including Chennai Angels and Axilor Ventures, SwitchOn raised $1 million in 2019.

“Over the last four years, SwitchOn has scaled with Fortune 500 customers by using their AI technology to deliver zero-defect to manufacturing,” said Shubham Sandeep, managing director of Pi Ventures.

SwitchOn uses AI system to help manufacturing companies improve product quality

SwitchOn, a company founded in 2017 by Aniruddha and Avra Banerjee, employs its unique artificial intelligence (AI) solution to assist manufacturing enterprises in identifying hurdles at the factory plant level and enhancing product quality. The startup’s clientele includes companies including Unilever, ITC, and SKF.

“Our proprietary deep learning-based algorithms can adapt to limited domain data for accurate defect detection. With this funding, we plan to expand our technology and R&D teams,” said Avra Banerjee, co-founder at SwitchOn.

While manufacturing organizations worldwide dedicate more than 25 percent of their personnel to quality inspection alone, they nevertheless receive over 50 customer complaints per plant annually, costing over $ 6.5 billion in lost sales, product waste, and brand reputation damage.

DeepInspect, the company’s flagship solution, promises superhuman accuracy of over 99 percent and assists manufacturers in quickly identifying complex surface flaws.

The rapid setup allows firms to adopt and entirely automate their quality inspection and deploy hundreds of stock-keeping units (SKUs) in a few days using less than 200 high-quality photos to train AI models.

Aniruddha Banerjee, the Co-founder, SwitchOn, said, “We believe that we have stabilized AI to the point where single-day trials and single-week deployments are finally a reality. We are thrilled to have the support of investors who understand the Industrial B2B SaaS space as we continue to make Zero-Defect a reality for the manufacturing industry.”
