Stimuler, the AI-driven English tutor transforming spoken English for ESL learners across Latin America and Southeast Asia, has secured $3.75 million in Pre-Series A funding to fuel its global expansion and sharpen its tech edge.

“At Stimuler, our goal is simple—to make fluent English speaking accessible to people worldwide,” said Akshay Akash, CEO and co-founder of Stimuler.

“This funding allows us to deepen our investment in AI infrastructure, expand our reach across LATAM and SEA, and move closer to becoming the #1 education app in these key markets. We believe our India-to-the-world and voice-first approach positions us uniquely to address the unmet needs of a billion English learners,” added Akshay Akash.

Stimuler delivers a voice-first English tutor that provides real-time feedback on pronunciation, fluency, grammar, and vocabulary—empowering users to master spoken English through personalized practice. With over 4 million installs and 45,000 paying users, the app has become a top contender in ESL learning, particularly in regions like Indonesia, Brazil, and Vietnam.

With $3.75 million in funding from leading investors, including Lightspeed, SWC Global, and M Venture Partners, the startup plans to expand its technical team, reinforce its in-house AI capabilities, and scale its user base in Latin America and Southeast Asia.

Aiming for #1 in LATAM and SEA

Founded in 2022 by Akshay Akash, Ankit Kumar Pandey, Anesh Srivastav, and Akshat Baranwal, Stimuler was built in India with a global vision. It aims to become LATAM and SEA’s #1 education app within 18 months. By focusing on AI-driven English tutor technology and advanced speech analysis, Stimuler plans to increase monetization more than fivefold.

Its voice-first design allows ESL users to receive continuous spoken feedback, making the platform more dynamic than traditional learning apps. The app also adapts to each learner’s pace and proficiency, delivering lessons tailored for rapid improvement.

“Stimuler is solving a universal need—making spoken English proficiency more accessible with sharp execution and deep product insight,” said Harsha Kumar, Partner at Lightspeed. “Akshay and his team are building a truly global company from India, poised to lead the category for the next billion users.”

Global Impact, Local Roots

While headquartered in India, Stimuler has seen its strongest adoption abroad. Over 90% of users come from outside India, with traction exploding in Southeast Asia and Latin America. The company now operates in over 175 countries, proving its scalability and global relevance.

In 2023, Google Play honored Stimuler as the Best App with AI, reinforcing its status as a category leader in AI-driven English tutor technology for ESL learners.

With fresh capital, the company will accelerate its push to dominate ESL learning in emerging markets. Stimuler expects to double down on data infrastructure, hire AI specialists, and create hyper-localized content to enhance engagement in LATAM and SEA.

By combining cutting-edge AI with a user-friendly mobile experience, Stimuler sets a new standard in spoken English instruction for non-native speakers. The app’s growth trajectory appears unstoppable as demand for English fluency surges globally.

Tuck Lye Koh, Founding Partner at SWC Global, added, “Stimuler has built a global-ready product with strong user engagement. We’re excited to support their journey toward becoming a global leader in spoken English learning.”
