Water as a service startup OWO announced on December 29, 2021, a seed funding of $ 3 million from marquee investors. OWO is disrupting the online essentials space, especially the drinking water market, by launching WaaS (water as a service). The funding will scale its technology platform and launch operations in Delhi, Noida, Jaipur and Pune.
Ajay Changani, Co-founder and CEO, OWO technologies, said, “A report says that India Water Purifier Market is expected to grow with a CAGR of more than 9 percent from FY 2020-21 to FY 2025-26. In just one year, we have already established OWO as the most reliable micro delivery app in a highly-competitive B2B e-commerce space.”
“The company has now entered a D2C model to deliver water to every Indian home through a water subscription model. A disruptive business model uses technology to ensure that every glass of water consumed in every home is in its healthiest form. To bring transparency, OWO water app gives the customer the live tracking and data of quality of water in each glass they are consuming,” added Changani.
Availing clean drinking water with its subscription model
The startup has made safe water accessible with its subscription plans starting at as low as INR 499 a month and offers mineral-rich alkaline water. OWO app thoroughly analyses the water for contamination, TDS levels etc.
The company installs the water purifier free of cost. The purifier is linked to the customer’s phone to check for real-time water quality and TDS of the water they drink. The company focuses on delivering all essential products and services, focusing on safe and healthy drinking water.
Hardev Sahu, Co-founder, OWO Technologies, said, “India has been trusting its water purifiers blindly. It is important to understand water purification closely. Every region, colony, or city has a different kind of supply water with different TDS levels, minerals, contamination, etc.”
“So, water purifiers need to be customized to dispense healthy, TDS and Alkaline balanced water. OWO is bringing India’s first customizable water solution with features and services which have never been offered,” added Sahu.

Starting in June 2020, OWO garnered 500 customers in two months and has since then grown to a size of more than 7000 customers.
