LaunchMyCareer is a career-focused program for schools. The platform promises to help young learners discover their interests, identify their potential, learn workplace readiness skills and apply these in real life.
Dev Clever, experts in digital innovation and immersive careers guidance, in Partnership with Veative and the National Independent Schools Alliance (NISA), has brought the careers discovery platform to India. His startup Launch Your Career is now spread across 70,000 schools in India, which approximately caters to 13 million students, and it has been christened as LaunchMyCareer (LMC) in the country.
The B2C EdTech subscription model helps students make informed career decisions. The comprehensive service of LMC will evaluate learners’ skills, provide guidance to maximize potential, and prepare them for college and career readiness while guiding them on the path to becoming global citizens.
The platform brings together educators, counselors and experts to steer students along with a career roadmap, under parental guidance, in a systematic, experiential and engaging way.
Ankur Aggarwal, Director LMC, spoke to us about implementing the platform in India, which has seen career engagement rates soar in young learners across two continents.
He explains how the platform would deliver high-quality guidance in line with dedicated benchmarks to ensure standards are raised to bridge the careers gap in India.
How are students benefiting from your services?
This thoughtful partnership will see NISA schools recommend the curriculum-aligned learning afforded by LaunchMyCareer as the platform-of-choice to its 70,000 schools, which approximately 13 million students attend.
Career Guidance pillar is a solution for young learners that helps identify their perfect career with a scientific process and guides them to prepare well for it.
LaunchMyCareer program does not bombard students with multiple careers to confuse them; we guide them through their options and profile them using neuro linguistic programming blended with personality theory to create personalized pathways.
Career experts and counselors play a vital role in navigating the core career journey with students, parents and educators.
Our Career Guidance program enables students to discover their passion, decide their perfect career, and develop their career pathway.
Would you please explain with an example?
The career guidance program is formulated to enable youth to discover, decide and define their career pathway.
Self-Discovery Tools – Buzz Quiz is designed scientifically to help develop self-awareness and understand how personality can shape a career. Students discover their spirit animals and understand their personalities.
Complete Career Mapping – Diagnostic tools provide research-based, tried and tested approaches for uncovering the most suitable careers. Tools also assist in discovering new skills and finally developing appropriate strategies for the program.
Career Exploration and Planning Tools have ingenious and in-depth information about each career involving a process of knowing, assessing, and learning about a vast range of jobs, including emerging careers.
Immersive Career Explorer – Immersive Career Explorer brings careers alive by letting students immerse and experience future jobs they might be interested in. It is nearly impossible to have an authentic experience of a range of careers.
What are your expansion plans and how do you plan to grow in India?
LaunchMyCareer plans to expand the partnership that will enable it to accelerate a global rollout plan across Asian territories, starting in India in partnership with NISA and then to extend across Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and into the Middle East and Africa in the next three years.
The platform brings together educators, counselors and experts to steer students along with a career roadmap, under parental guidance, in a systematic, experiential and engaging way.
LaunchMyCareer is backed by Dev Clever, a market leader in career development across the UK and Europe, and Veative Labs (Pvt) Ltd, an organization that provides immersive solutions for enterprise and education in more than 20 countries across the globe.
What challenges did you face in terms of counseling students taking homeschooling during the pandemic?
The challenges that we met are that the inability to structure informal chats with students and the lack of proper internet connection adds to our woes. Students get tired of being on laptops the entire day; hence it is challenging to have their attention.
Students now also have to pitch in for household duties, at times not having time for counseling activities, lack of attention due to constant distractions at home, sudden loss of family members or relatives has also added to their stress levels, and loss of jobs by one or both the parents can have direct repercussions on their education.
Would you please elaborate on your counseling experiences with the students who have not been to school for the longest time?
Students have faced illness either themselves or by other family members, leading to mental health concerns. Aligning to a regular school schedule is not easy for them and their families. They are settling down issues. Many students face uncertainty with their future goals, as some of the parents have lost jobs or seen a decline in income.
Would you please talk with data about the demand of your services and their performance?
Ed-Tech is one of the fastest-growing startup industries in India, but at the same time, it has its share of critics too. Especially for growing online adoption and the inflation in the field.
What are some of your current focus areas?
Some of our focus areas are mental health, working out different career paths, and introducing them to online learning opportunities like courses and internships. Encourage our students to write their blogs, start an entrepreneurial business, learn digital marketing skills, participate in online events, showcase their talent on Instagram and other platforms.
