Noida-based robotics startup Addverb Technologies has received orders worth $ 1 billion with Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Retail. The order is for supplying robots with 5G technologies over the next four-five years to Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), according to reports.
The robots will be deployed to Reliance Industries (RIL’s) Jamnagar refinery and remote-controlled by RIL, Mumbai. While Addverb did not confirm the value of the order, sources privy to the matter confirmed that the order would contain a fleet of Dynamo 200 bots.
Legion, Addverb’s in-house fleet management system hosted in Ahmedabad will control the entire fleet connected via a 5G network. The robots can be operated out of Mumbai, which will allow RIL to experiment with 5G technology.
The development comes after RIL’s subsidiary Reliance Retail had last month acquired a majority stake in the intra-logistics automation provider Addverb with an investment of $132 million. According to the report, apart from tagging inventory, another fleet of Dynamo bots will be used separately for bagging line automation.
Addverb announces US expansion
On February 15, the six-year-old startup also announced plans to expand its footprint to the US market. Mark Messina has been appointed the CEO for its US operations. Messina, who has previously worked with companies like Philips and Amazon Robotics, will be joined by Luke Lee as the Head of Marketing-Americas.
Before expanding its business in Texas, Addverb Technologies had developed its wings in Australia, Singapore, and European markets in 2021. The company has chosen to announce its entry into the market with MODEX, the premier supply chain event in the US, scheduled from March 28, 2022, to March 31, 2022, in Atlanta.
A live demo of Addverb’s flagship products in action at the event will provide the visitors with a chance to experience the power of automation.
With a 100 percent subsidiary office in the US, the company’s entry will be led by Mark Messina, who has joined as the CEO of Addverb Technologies, USA.
Addverb CEO Sangeet Kumar said, “So far, we have witnessed a strong appetite for robotic solutions in every international market we have ventured into. We expect a similar response from the US that caters to the world’s largest consumer market.”
