Bose, a leader in audio excellence since 1964, has provided undisclosed funding to Noise, catapulting the Gurugram-based company from its bootstrapped status into a promising Series A round, marking a pivotal moment in the evolution of smart wearables.
The infusion of funds signifies more than mere financial support; it symbolizes a synergistic partnership between two tech leaders committed to redefining the landscape of smart wearables.
“This isn’t just about funding; it’s about synergy: two tech giants, united by a passion for innovation, coming together to reimagine the future of smart wearables,” said Gaurav Khatri, CEO and co-founder of Noise.
Bose’s strategic investment, a critical component of Noise’s Series A round, opens avenues for the Gurugram-based company to leverage Bose’s extensive supply chain capabilities. This collaboration hints at Noise’s products’ possibility of reaching a global audience, capitalizing on Bose’s established presence in various countries.
The undisclosed funding from Bose is poised to catalyze Noise’s expansion, aid geographical diversification and foster innovation in product development.
“Think premium-segment products, cutting-edge tech, and a commitment to democratizing the best possible experience… We’re talking about unlocking new markets, pushing boundaries, and making some serious Noise in the world,” Khatri added.
Competitive Landscape
Noise faces contenders like Boat, Sony, OnePlus, Fireboltt, Portronics, and Jabra in the fiercely competitive realm of smart wearables. While Noise’s bootstrap journey elevated its standing in the Indian market, the association with Bose, a global audio excellence leader, is anticipated to fortify its local and international position.
Despite declining profits to INR 88 lakh in FY23 from INR 36 crore in FY22, Noise reported a noteworthy revenue surge. The company’s revenues climbed from INR 793 crore in FY22 to an impressive INR 1,427 crore in FY23, showcasing a robust growth trajectory.
According to International Data Corporation (IDC), Noise claimed the second position in the wearables market with a 13.5 percent market share. It reclaimed its dominance in the smartwatch segment with a commanding 27.6 percent share in H1 2023.
“Their leadership in the wearables category and understanding of their customers will allow us to collaborate and bring new, differentiated products to a growing market,” said Nicholas Smith, Senior Vice-President of Strategy and Business Development at Bose.
Industry Recognition and Future Prospects
With approximately 35 product offerings, including smartwatches, wireless earphones, and speakers, Noise has become a major player in the wearables and audio gadget domain. Notably, IDC’s data affirms Noise’s resurgence in the smartwatch sector, capturing a substantial market share in the first half of 2023.
“As we looked at the opportunity to reach more people with the benefits of our technology in India, investing in Noise became an obvious choice,” said Nicholas Smith.
As Noise embarks on this new chapter of growth and innovation, the alliance with Bose signifies a strategic leap forward. This collaboration injects fresh capital and positions Noise as a formidable contender in the global smart wearables arena.
