In this initiative, Zomato will adopt a 100% commitment of electric vehicles running on the road for deliveries. The company tweeted about it on June 5 – World Environment Day.

Zomato is using EV scooters in the cities of Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore. Currently, the number of EVs used is extremely small. The company says that 100% adoption of EV vehicles is not easy, but in the long run, it is essential. At present times, the adoption of EVs is very low for the company and the whole two-wheeler industry.
According to Zomato, the biggest barriers to EV adoption are limited battery range, lack of charging infrastructure, higher costs, and lack of trust in new technology. However, the company believes that looking at the current rapid rate of innovation in the industry and with the Government’s support, a much faster transition to EV from petrol and diesel is expected.
Working with EV partners
Zomato is actively working with a few EV players to help them design pilots and create business models that could help faster transition towards a viable mobility solution for deliveries. Deepinder Goyal, CEO of Zomato, has said that the brand can actively support a change into EVs by creating an ecosystem consisting of EV manufacturers, battery suppliers, and the government.
“We want to be accountable for the impact we create and contribute to finding solutions for the world’s most important environmental challenges, that are a by-product of our own progress,” he added.
